Below are the quick answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.
Do I need a credit card?
Credit cards are needed for the execution of a contract. However, as part of Dimmples’ commitment to reducing some rental barriers, other means of payment can be discussed and/or allowed during reservations and pick up, including the use of Zelle, CashApp, Apple Pay, Cash and e-transfer for Canada.
What's included in the rental charges?
Charges for a single rental transaction vary depending on the car category and state tax. However, four things are typically involved in the charges; the cost of renting a car, the state tax, cost of insurance for those who will want to purchase insurance and a $200 security deposit, typically refunded after one to three business days after the return of the vehicle.
Which documents are needed to pick up a rental car?
Every renter needs a valid driver’s license issued by any US state or Canadian province for those living in the United States of America or Canada and a valid passport for visitors from other countries. A visitor will also need a copy of their country’s issued driver’s license to confirm driving fitness. In some locations, based on your driving records and the discretion of the Dimmples representative, you may need at least collision insurance.
Can Dimmples Pick You Up?
Yes, our free pick-up team is available depending on the distance between your location and the Dimmples office you are requesting pick up from. Cars cannot be delivered to your home or address. Our logistics team can only pick you up to our office where our rental team will complete your rental contract and any other necessary documentation. However, in some cases, based on an agreement between our valued renters and the Dimmples representative on seat, cars can be delivered for an additional fee.
What About My Pets?
Pets are allowed in our rental vehicles. As a valued customer, you are advised to keep pets crated and return the rental car in clean condition and free of pet hair. If pet hair is found inside a rental vehicle after return, upon inspection, detailing fees will be charged.
How old must I be to rent with Dimmples?
Laws in most state allow for renters to be at least 25 years, although in some States renters’ ages start at 18. However, it will be based on the discretion of our representative in each location to issue a contract after considering certain factors, especially if you have full coverage insurance that can be verified with you as an added driver on the policy.
What About Security Deposit?
Dimmples has a standard $200 security deposit policy across all its agencies or locations. At the time of renting the car, a friendly Dimmples team member will include $200 to your final bill and call it SD or Security Deposit.
When do I get my SD back?
The Security Deposit is $200, typically refunded after one to three business days of returning the car. Dimmples friendly representative will not be able to instantly refund your security deposit.
What are some things that can cause your security deposit not to be fully refunded?
You may lose part or all your security deposit if you fail to return the rental vehicle with the exact fuel as at the time of picking it up. For sedans, if your gas or fuel level is less than the level you picked it up, $50 will be deducted from your SD and up to $100 for SUVs. Also, if you smoke in the vehicle, all your $200 SD will be withheld, and an extra charge imputed on your account if you returned the car without the exact fuel level. Moreover, if you return the vehicle with trash, $100 will be deducted from your security deposit to clean the vehicle.
What grace period have I before my return time?
Dimmples offers its clients one hour grace period before new charges set in. This means renters must return vehicles at the same time as it was picked up. For example, Mr. John picks up a vehicle at 1 p.m. on 01/23/2023 and is expected to return on 01/28/2023. In this case, Mr. John must return that vehicle at exactly 1 p.m. on 01/28/2023. However, Dimmples will allow Mr. John to return an hour late. That is, 2 p.m. Mr. John will however be charged for a full day if the car is returned after 2 p.m.
What if I end my contract before time?
Sometimes, some renters end their contracts before return dates. If you are renting through an insurance claim, a bill will be submitted to your insurance on the date of return. However, if you are paying out of pocket, you can only receive rental credit if you return the vehicle a day or days before.
Simply put, if you pay for seven days and only use the car for five days, only your security deposit will be refunded after taking into consideration all factors affecting the amount of security deposit you may receive.
For the remaining days, no money will be returned. However, you will still not lose your money. A credit will be issued in the form of an acknowledgement to your email that will enable you to pick up the same car category from the same Dimmples location for free for the same number of days you left unused. This credit is valid for up to six months.
What if I reserve and cancel?
Dimmples understands that its clients can change their plans at any time. So, we made it easy to facilitate the reservation and cancellation process. If you cancel your reservation five days before picking up, you will be reimbursed in full. However, if you cancel below five days, 50% of payment will be withheld. No reimbursement can be made for cancellation twenty-four hours to scheduled pick up time.
What About Tickets?
During rental contracts, while a renter is using a Dimmples vehicle, tickets may occur from speed limit violations, red light and tolls. The law in all states require transfer of liability to the person or persons renting the Dimmples vehicle at that time.
If a ticket is sent to our office on a vehicle, you are renting or have rented, Dimmples will send you pictures of the ticket or tickets. For all tickets, renters will have five days from the date of receiving the picture to pay to Dimmples. Once that payment is made, Dimmples will transfer payment to the respective state, county, city or town.
If payment is not received in five days, Dimmples will transfer liability to the renter by providing the renter’s information, including a copy of his/her ID card to the respective state, county, city or town.
What is renter responsible for during the rental period?
Any physical damage during the rental period, including tire damage is the responsibility of the renter. Dimmples Car Rentals is responsible for all damages that are due to wear and tear.
Who’s responsible for oil and brake change for long term renters?
Oil and brake changes are the responsibility of Dimmples. However, for the convenience of the renter, an agreement can be reached wherein the renter does these changes in a dedicated or suggested Dimmples service provider.
